Atelier Sakura Branding
Atelier Sakura, a Japanese calligraphy studio, opened its doors in April 2024 in Hakodate, Japan. It was founded by Akiko Sasaki – one of my dearest and closest friends. This studio is the realization of her dream and passion, shaped by years of experience as an artist and educator.
In close collaboration with Akiko, I developed the full branding for this unique local business—from concept development to final logo design—bringing its identity to life.

Atelier Sakura offers unique calligraphy experience, education, and workshops in all ages and levels to both local residents and visitors from around the world.
Logo Creation Process
Akiko had a clear vision from the start. She wanted the logo to have:
1. A cherry blossom
2. A Japanese emblem style
3. A sense of place: Hakodate, Japan
4. An element representing Japanese calligraphy
We worked closely together to bring all of these ideas into one design.
The creation of the logo was a highlight of our friendship. Even from far away, our bond and our laughter stay strong.
